Lifting and rigging products distributor Bishop Lifting acquired Oceanside Equipment, a like distributor of rigging and mooring products based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, with a second location in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland.
In business since 1990, Oceanside serves marine, mining, transportation and manufacturing end markets in eastern Canada.
Oceanside marks Houston-based Bishop’s 14th acquisition since 2012 and is the seventh add-on acquisition since it was privately acquired by Altamont Capital Partners from Singer Equities (now Singer Industrial) in 2022.
Bishop said that Oceanside’s Canada locations and private label offering support Bishop’s goal of becoming North America’s leading distributor of lifting products and services.
Post-acquisition, Oceanside will retain its branding and staff, with Greg Maloney, Gary Sullivan, and Vincent Penton continuing in commercial and leadership roles.
“The acquisition of Oceanside marks our first physical locations in Canada and continues our strategy to expand our core solution offerings and footprint to serve customers locally across North America,” Bishop Lifting CEO Harold King said in a May 15 news release. “Oceanside has strong customer relationships across Canada, and I am excited to welcome the entire team to the Bishop family.”
“Bishop Lifting is a great home for our employees and a partner to steward the business we have built over 30-plus years,” Oceanside’s Maloney (company founder) added. “I look forward to working with Bishop to continue investing in products and distribution to serve our collective customers across North America.”
Bishop has over 45 branches across the U.S. and Canada.
